Beet Street’s mission is to develop Fort Collins into a nationally recognized arts and culture center and destination by distinguishing ourselves as an intellectually vital community that fosters, celebrates, and inspires human creativity.
Streetmosphere, Beet Street’s signature cultural program, transforms Fort Collins into a spontaneous, outdoor performing arts festival all summer long. Streetmosphere provides high quality, free performances that boasts civic pride for our local, creative talent. In 2010 and 2011, Streetmosphere auditioned and hired more than 100 local acts including classical, jazz, country, bluegrass, and pop singers, musicians and bands; dancers, actors, comedians, jugglers, magicians, painters, weavers, and even a cowboy poet. Attendance and excitement about Streetmosphere has grown exponentially - in 2010, 60,000 people stopped and watched performances; in 2011, more than 120,000 residents and visitors participated. Downtown businesses report that the vibrant activity of Streetmosphere has increased foot traffic and sales.
Since 2010, more than 50 local businesses and organizations have made financial contributions to support the operations of Streetmosphere, including paying the performers. Your sponsorship or advertising purchase in the Streetmosphere Guide Book makes this incredible program possible.
DOWNTOWN: MAY 11 – SEPTEMBER 3, 2012
Downtown Fort Collins will enjoy 16 weekends of Streetmosphere performances between Mother’s Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. Downtown will again have 5 simultaneous performance locations on Fridays from 4:30pm – 8:30pm, Saturdays 12:30pm -8:30pm, and Sundays 12:30-4:30pm. Performers will include your favorite acts from prior years and plenty of new local artists.
SOUTH: JULY 6 –AUGUST 26, 2012
In 2012, we are expanding the reach of our programs to include areas outside of downtown in order to fulfill our mission. In addition to the 16 week downtown season, our community’s unique artists will perform for 8 weekends, Fridays through Sundays, July 6-August 26 in Front Range Village.
Streetmosphere South will include three different, simultaneous, free performances per day in multiple locations on street corners and public plazas in Front Range Village. Performance hours will be Fridays 4:30-8:30pm, Saturdays 12:30-4:30pm and Sundays 12:30-4:30. Auditions for 2012 will begin in January.
